Frequently Asked Questions

About Your Dogeen

Do you take all dogs?

There are cows, ponies and sheep in the vicinity so we are not able to take dogs that chase other animals. If you have a large dog, that is not recall or lead trained we’re afraid it’s a no. But if you’re working on either of the above, do get in touch and we can see if we can work something out.

Your dog must be fully up to date with vaccinations. If your dog is likely to be in heat, we need to know about it. (We do doggy holidays, but not holiday romances.)

Where will my dog sleep?

In Anstice’s kitchen, or living room. The bedroom is not far so she’ll hear if there’s anything up.

We can send photos if you’d like to see the space.

My dogeen can’t be with other dogs, can they stay alone?

Yes, we will always try and accommodate this. If we already have another dog booked in we will tell you and we can discuss if there’s any way we can make it work for you both.

My dogeen is anxious and I’m worried about leaving them…

We are NOT a boarding kennel, your doggeen will be staying Anstice’s home and have a comfy and relaxed visit, tailored to their needs. Also, if they like cuddles, they’ll get lots of them. Even if they miss you, we’ll keep them busy and happy until you are reunited.

What if my dogeen gets sick?

There is an excellent vet in Clifden 25 minutes away. We will contact you immediately if there is a problem and your dog is unwell and we can agree a course of action. Obviously if it’s an emergency we will head to the vet immediately. We will do everything we can to make sure your dogeen stays healthy and happy in our care. When booking, we will send you a form with questions about your pet’s medical history, their vet contact details, and information on any existing conditions.

I don’t live in Connemara, how do I get my dog to you?

We are happy to meet you half-way if you live beyond 45 minutes away. If you are based in Dublin, for example, we could meet you on the motorway, around Athenry, Ballinasloe or a similar half-way point. This is approx 2hrs away from us, so we’d charge around €30 for pick up to cover fuel.

What do I need to bring?

Please your dog’s bedding (incl. crate if that’s where they sleep), food, lead and any additional things (toys, poop bags,seat-belt, towels) your dogeen needs. If this is not possible, let us know and we can help.

About Booking With Us

How do I book?

If you are interested in booking, we can set up a free Zoom call (or face to face if you’re local to Roundstone or nearby) to introduce Anstice to you and your dogeen.

Once we’ve seen that it’s a good fit for all involved, you can make a booking by paying a non-refundable 50% deposit of the total amount upfront. The outstanding amount will be due on the first day your dogeen arrives.

You will also need to fill in a form with all the important info about your dogeen - likes, dislikes, temperament, medical history, favourite treats etc.

Your prices say ‘starting from….’

In most cases the price you see is the price you get. We do charge a little more for larger dog and dogs that need more exercise than most. If there’s pick-up/drop-off needed that can be an extra cost.

Are you covered by insurance?

Yes, but it will not cover any medical assistance for your pet. We’ll need details of your pet insurance, just in case.

Will you come and visit my dog in my house instead?

If you live very locally let’s talk.

What about my cateen? Do you cat-sit?

Well, meow-be….
If you live locally (within 30 minutes) we can discuss daily drop-ins to feed your cat and keep them company.
